Hey there, and welcome to the daily public media wildfires update.
It’s been a long few weeks, but both the Palisades and Eaton fires are finally nearing full containment and residents are being allowed back in gradually to assess damage. If that’s you, make sure you’re prepared with the right protective gear for sorting through ash.
In today’s newsletter, we learn some hard-earned lessons from Lahaina, Maui, on best practices for reopening schools, a volunteer group is combing Zillow for price gougers, and the new PBS SoCal series Locationland is looking to document movie locations that were saved from the fires. Plus, it’s a week full of charity benefit concerts to help support relief efforts and have some fun at the same time.
Stay safe.
